Indian benchmark indices are expected to open higher on Monday after global cues improved and crude oil prices fell sharply. GIFT Nifty indicated a positive start, while investors are returning to equities after the Nifty 50 gained around 2.6% from its recent low. Easing oil prices have provided some relief to the market because lower energy costs can reduce pressure on India’s import bill and inflation.
However, investors are likely to remain selective as the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee meeting begins this week. The policy decision, domestic manufacturing and services PMI data, corporate earnings and foreign fund flows are expected to determine the market’s direction. Analysts believe the broader trend remains constructive, although geopolitical developments could continue to trigger volatility.
