The US has intensified its economic campaign against Iran, announcing fresh sanctions and warning countries and businesses that continue dealing with Tehran that they could also face penalties. Washington has described the strategy as an attempt to place severe economic pressure on Iran.
The conflict remains closely linked to the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy supplies. Uncertainty over the actual volume of oil currently moving through the waterway has added another layer of risk for crude markets.
For India, prolonged disruption could mean higher crude-import costs and pressure on the rupee, while sectors dependent on transportation and energy could face margin pressure.
