Sterlite Technologies has approved a substantial Rs.3,000 cr. capital-expenditure programme for its existing manufacturing facility amid rising global demand for optical-fibre cables and connectivity solutions.
The investment signals management’s expectation of sustained demand from telecom networks, data centres, cloud infrastructure and growing AI-related digital infrastructure.
Optical fibre remains a critical component of high-speed broadband, 5G networks and large-scale data-centre connectivity. With global data consumption continuing to increase, manufacturers are expanding capacity to meet long-term demand.
Sterlite Technologies already has experience operating optical-fibre and cable manufacturing facilities in India and overseas.
The new capex programme could therefore strengthen the company’s production capabilities and provide a larger platform for future revenue growth, although execution, demand trends and returns on the investment will remain important factors to monitor.
