Indian equity benchmarks are likely to open lower on Thursday as global markets came under pressure from a sharp rise in US Treasury yields. GIFT Nifty was trading around 23,300, indicating a cautious start, while the Nifty 50 had closed at 23,446.80 and the Sensex at 74,828.25 on Wednesday. The US 10-year Treasury yield climbed to around 5%, its highest level since 2007, increasing concerns that interest rates could remain elevated for longer.
The rise in US yields and a stronger dollar could also influence foreign fund flows into emerging markets. Investors in India are watching crude prices, the rupee and global bond markets alongside domestic institutional buying for further direction.
