Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. has awarded Larsen & Toubro Ltd. a Rs.797 crore contract, excluding taxes, for modernisation of its ammonia manufacturing plant at Thal in Maharashtra. L&T emerged as the lowest bidder for the project.
The contract covers detailed engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, installation, commissioning and guarantee-run activities. The work is expected to take 36 months and is aimed at reducing energy consumption in the fertiliser manufacturing process.
