HDFC Bank Ltd. has appointed Anup Bagchi as its next Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term. Bagchi, who is currently Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, will become the first external candidate to take charge of the private-sector lender.
The appointment comes at an important stage for HDFC Bank as it continues to focus on growth, deposits and operational integration following its merger with Housing Development Finance Corporation. Bagchi’s appointment is expected to bring leadership experience from the banking and financial-services sector to the country’s largest private-sector bank.
