Coal India has reported a significant improvement in daily coal production and supplies as heavy monsoon conditions eased across mining regions.
On September 8, the company’s daily coal production increased to around 1.91 million tonnes, compared with an average of 1.36 million tonnes during September 1–3. Supplies to the power sector also improved, reaching approximately 1.74 million tonnes.
The recovery was particularly strong at Northern Coalfields, where production increased 67% and supplies rose 75% on September 8. NCL had produced 51.43 million tonnes during FY27 up to September 8, with around 87% of its supplies directed towards the power sector.
