HDFC Bank has initiated the process to identify a successor to Managing Director and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, whose current tenure is approaching its end. The bank has submitted two potential candidates to the Reserve Bank of India for consideration.

The succession process is being closely watched because HDFC Bank is one of India’s largest private-sector lenders. The eventual appointment will be important for continuity in the bank’s strategy, loan growth, asset quality and digital expansion.
