Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) reported consolidated net profit of Rs.3,625.22 crore for the second quarter of FY27, down 6.1% year-on-year from approximately Rs.3,859 crore. Revenue increased by around 26% year-on-year, according to the company’s reported results.
The difference between revenue and profit growth highlights the importance of refining margins, crude-oil costs, inventory valuation, fuel pricing and taxes in the oil-refining business. HPCL’s profit also improved substantially compared with the heavy loss recorded in the preceding quarter, although quarter-on-quarter comparisons reflect different market conditions.
Investors will be watching crude-oil prices, refining margins, marketing profitability and government policy on fuel prices. With geopolitical tensions lifting international oil prices, the cost of crude supplies and the timing of price changes will remain key factors for the company’s earnings.
