The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) announced plans to showcase 100 homegrown artificial intelligence applications at the upcoming IndiaAI Impact Summit, set to be held in New Delhi in February 2026. These AI solutions are being shortlisted as part of government-supported initiatives and are expected to demonstrate India’s innovation footprint to nations in the Global South.
The selection includes a mix of AI applications developed to address both India-specific challenges and global problems, spanning sectors such as agriculture, climate, financial inclusion, manufacturing, healthcare, governance, and assistive technologies. Among the shortlisted solutions are 30 developed by women entrepreneurs, 20 by young innovators, and 20 designed for global impact challenges, reflecting a broad focus on diversity and social impact.
Supported under the IndiaAI Mission’s application development initiative, the featured AI tools must be deployable and affordable, with only working prototypes being considered. To encourage innovation, monetary awards have been earmarked for top teams, including up to ₹25 lakh for global and women-led solutions and ₹15 lakh for top young entrepreneur teams. Finalists in select categories will also have opportunities to showcase their solutions to investors during the summit.
The summit, expected to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will bring together leaders from around 25 countries, underlining India’s ambition to reduce the global AI divide and position itself as a central hub for AI policymaking and responsible technology adoption. MeitY has set up seven working groups focused on key themes such as AI for economic growth, inclusion, safe and trusted AI, and democratization of AI resources to shape collaborative outcomes at the event.
