Money Times Talk (MTTs) – 31/07/2026

  • BSE’s multibagger lesson: Investor Siddharth Balachandran invested Rs.80 cr. in BSE in 2018, saw it fall nearly 65% by 2020, yet continued accumulating and holding. Today, his stake is worth over Rs.3,500 cr., highlighting the power of conviction and long-term investing.

  • Law of averaging and its implications in investing: Never average down in weak companies or trading positions with poor fundamentals. 2. Average only in fundamentally strong businesses with a long-term investment horizon. 3. Average after a trend reversal, not simply because the stock has fallen. 4. Temporary negative news often creates attractive averaging opportunities. 5. Correctly executed averaging can reduce the overall cost of acquisition and improve long-term returns. 6. Traders should use stop-losses instead of averaging down. 7. Investors with limited capital should avoid excessive averaging to prevent over-concentration. 8. A falling stock is not automatically cheap, and a rising stock is not necessarily expensive—always evaluate the fundamentals before investing.

  • Investing in convertible warrants without understanding a company’s fundamentals can be risky. Several stocks are now trading below their warrant issue prices, highlighting the importance of due diligence before investing: KP Energy (Warrant Price: Rs.412 | CMP: Rs.304), Spandana Sphoorty (Rs.448 | Rs.283), Hi-Tech Pipes (Rs.100 | Rs.86), Best Agrolife (Rs.42.60 | Rs.15), Anand Rayon (Rs.78 | Rs.53), Fabtech Cleanrooms (Rs.394 | Rs.370), MRP Agro (Rs.130 | Rs.90) and Vardhman Polytex (Rs.12.50 | Rs.6).

  • Attack may win matches, but defence wins championships. Similarly, lasting wealth comes from protecting capital through health insurance, an emergency fund, proper asset allocation and disciplined risk management before chasing higher returns.

  • Major banks earned over Rs.20,000 cr. from insurance distribution in FY26. HDFC Bank led with Rs.6,927 cr., followed by ICICI Bank at Rs.4,068 cr., Axis Bank at Rs.3,700 cr. and Kotak Mahindra Bank at Rs.1,075 cr.

  • Anant Raj will invest Rs.74.86 cr. in its wholly owned subsidiary Ashok Cloud through a rights issue to strengthen its data centre and cloud business. Positive development. Keep on radar.
