OpenAI has rolled out a new “Year in Review” feature called Your Year with ChatGPT for select users, offering a personalised annual recap of how they interacted with the chatbot over 2025. The feature mirrors popular year-end summary tools such as Spotify Wrapped and YouTube Recap, providing engaging highlights and insights based on individual usage patterns.
The recap is currently available only to eligible users in select English-speaking markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand — and in India for certain plan types — who have both reference saved memories and reference chat history enabled. Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are not included in this initial rollout.
Instead of just showing raw data, Your Year with ChatGPT presents users with visually engaging summaries of their year-long interactions with the AI. This includes metrics like the number of messages exchanged, most active chat days, key topics discussed, and even a custom AI-generated pixel art image reflecting conversation themes. Users also receive fun personalised awards or archetypes (for example “Creative Debugger” or “Visionary Voyager”) based on how they engaged with the assistant.
The feature is designed to be optional and user-controlled — it appears on the home screen for eligible accounts or can be accessed by asking ChatGPT directly. It offers a reflective look back at how people used the chatbot throughout the year and makes the experience shareable on social platforms, following the broader trend of annual recap features across digital apps.
While the recap aims to entertain and engage users, its rollout also underscores how deeply AI assistants like ChatGPT have become integrated into daily workflows and personal routines, offering both creative inspiration and practical support throughout the year.
