Gold and silver prices declined for another session as higher crude oil prices and renewed geopolitical tensions raised concerns over inflation and future interest-rate hikes. Although bullion is traditionally considered a safe-haven asset, expectations of prolonged higher interest rates reduced investor appetite.
Silver also witnessed heavy selling during the past few sessions, while traders booked profits after the recent rally. Analysts noted that precious metals are currently reacting to both inflation expectations and movements in the U.S. dollar.
Investors are expected to closely monitor global inflation data and central bank commentary before taking fresh positions in bullion.
