The Indian stock market is closed on Friday, October 2, on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Trading on the BSE and NSE, including equity and derivatives segments, will resume on Monday, October 5. MCX and NCDEX are also closed today.
The holiday comes after another weak session on October 1. The Sensex fell 570.59 points, or 0.79%, to 71,909.70, while the Nifty 50 declined 198.50 points, or 0.88%, to 22,421.95. The indices extended their losing streak amid foreign fund selling, elevated US bond yields, higher crude prices and a weaker rupee.
