India’s infrastructure sector recorded 4.8% YoY growth in August 2026, according to government data. The expansion was supported by cement, electricity, steel and iron ore production, although several energy-related segments recorded declines.
Cement production grew 12.5% YoY and electricity generation increased 11.6%, while steel output rose 3.4%. Crude oil and natural gas production declined during the month. For April-August, overall infrastructure output grew 4.3%, compared with 2.4% in the corresponding period of the previous year.
