The continuing US-Iran conflict is keeping global shipping and energy security firmly on the radar of investors. Fresh concerns around maritime routes have emerged as countries in the region work to strengthen security around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Saudi Arabia is seeking a broader regional maritime-security coalition, with 14 countries backing a joint statement on enhanced cooperation.
For global markets, the key concern is whether the conflict leads to prolonged disruption of energy and shipping routes. Any sustained increase in transportation or crude costs could feed into inflation and corporate expenses, particularly for import-dependent economies such as India. Markets are therefore expected to remain highly sensitive to military developments and diplomatic efforts in the region.
