- Gift Nifty Signals Weak Opening: Focus on 20-Day EMA Support
- 1. Global Market:
- On Thursday, all three major US indices closed in the red following the release of inflation data. The #Dow extended its losing streak to six consecutive sessions, ending 0.53 percent lower. The #Nasdaq dropped by 0.68 percent, while the #S&P 500 declined by 0.54 percent.
- Going ahead, for the S&P 500, the 20-day EMA zone of 6020-6000 will act as immediate support for the index. While, on the upside, the zone of 6090-6100 will act as a crucial hurdle for the index.
- For the second consecutive trading session, #BrentOil oscillated near its 50-day EMA level. Going ahead, the zone of $73.80-74 will act as an immediate hurdle for Brent Oil. While on the downside, $72.20-72 will act as crucial support.
- For the fifth consecutive trading session, the U.S. Dollar Index (#DXY) ended on a positive note. Currently, it is trading above its short and long-term moving averages. The daily RSI quotes above the 60 mark, which is a bullish sign. Hence, we believe it is likely to continue its northward journey and test the level of 107.50, followed by 108 in the short term.
- 2. Nifty View:
- On the weekly expiry day, the benchmark index Nifty traded within a tight range of 147 points, forming a small-bodied bearish candle with an upper shadow. This marked the fifth consecutive session of range-bound movement for the index, signaling a lack of clear direction in the market.
- The momentum indicators and oscillators have been fluctuating within a range over the last five trading sessions, reflecting a consolidation phase.
- Going ahead, the 20-day EMA zone of 24400-24350 will act as immediate support for the index. If the index slips below the level of 24350, then the next support is placed at 24220 level.
- While, on the upside, the resistance shifted lower in the zone of 24650-24680 level. Any sustainable move above the level of 24680 will lead to resume its northward journey. In that case, it is likely to test the level of 24770, followed by 24900 in the short term.
- On the #derivatives front, December #futures ended lower by 0.35 percent, while the combined #OpenInterest for the current, next, and far series surged by 0.38 percent.
- Among the constituents of the #Nifty index, 8 stocks have witnessed a long build-up, and 11 stocks have witnessed a short covering rally. While 20 stocks have witnessed a short build-up, and 11 stocks have witnessed a long unwinding.
- The 24600 strike has significant call open interest, followed by the 24700 strike. On the put side, 24500 has a substantial open interest, followed by a 24400 strike.
- For the weekly series, OI PCR is at 0.77. While, for the December monthly series, OI PCR is at 1.16.
- 3. Bank Nifty View:
- On Thursday, Bank Nifty opened with a gap down but attempted a recovery during the session. However, it struggled to sustain at higher levels, encountering renewed selling pressure, and ultimately closed at 53216, down by 0.33%. On a daily scale, it has formed a Gravestone Doji candle.
- Notably, in five of the last six trading sessions, the index has formed candles with long upper shadows, highlighting persistent selling pressure at higher levels. This pattern suggests caution, as it reflects the market's hesitation to hold onto gains at elevated levels.
- Going ahead, the zone of 52850-52800 will act as immediate support for the index. If the index slips below the level of 52800, then the next support is placed at the 52500 level.
- While, on the upside, the zone of 53450-53500 will act as a crucial hurdle for the index.
- On the #derivative front, December #futures dipped by 0.23 percent, and the cumulative #OpenInterest of current, next, and far series has also dipped by 3.59 percent.
- The 53500 strike has significant call open interest, followed by the 54000 strike. On the put side, 53000 has a substantial open interest, followed by a 52500 strike.
- For the December monthly series, OI PCR is at 0.89.
- 4. Key Market Indicators:
- In the last five trading sessions, the volatility index, India VIX, tumbled by over 9 percent. This significant drop reflects subdued market volatility.
- The #Advance/Decline ratio largely tilted in favor of decliners on Thursday.
- 5. Key Sectors:
- Technically, Nifty IT, Nifty Consumer Durable, Nifty Financial Services, and Nifty Realty are likely to outperform in the short term.
- While, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Oil & Gas, Nifty CPSE, Nifty PSE, Nifty Media, and Nifty Auto are likely to underperform in the short-term.
- 6. FII/DII Data:
- #FIIs sold to the tune of 3560.01 cr. while #DIIs bought to the tune of 2646.65 cr.
- FIIs' #Long-short ratio for index futures is at 39.94 as on a net basis, they sold 20313 index futures contracts.
- On the stock #futures front, FIIs have sold to the tune of 79871 contracts, while on the #Options Front, FIIs bought 4213 call contracts and 47412 Put Option contracts.
