Indian benchmark indices traded in a narrow range as investors adopted a cautious approach ahead of the upcoming US Federal Reserve policy announcement. While domestic corporate earnings continued to support stock-specific buying, traders preferred to avoid aggressive positions until there is greater clarity on the Fed’s interest rate outlook. Banking and capital goods stocks remained relatively resilient, whereas IT shares witnessed selective profit booking.
Analysts believe the Fed’s commentary on inflation and future rate cuts could influence foreign investment flows into emerging markets, including India. Domestic investors are also closely monitoring quarterly earnings, crude oil prices and macroeconomic indicators, which are expected to drive market direction over the next few trading sessions. Despite short-term volatility, market participants remain optimistic about India’s long-term economic growth.
