Indian equity markets are introducing changes to the way closing prices are determined from August 3. The new Closing Auction Session (CAS) for eligible Futures & Options stocks is designed to improve price discovery during the final minutes of trading. The changes are expected to affect how traders and investors manage positions near the end of the trading day.
The revised mechanism is particularly important for active traders because the closing price can influence derivatives settlements and other market calculations. Investors are therefore expected to familiarise themselves with the new closing process and timings. The change marks another step in the evolution of India’s market infrastructure and could initially lead to some adjustment in trading strategies.
