Indian equity markets staged a partial recovery after witnessing their steepest single-day decline in nearly three months. Buying in banking, auto and broader market stocks helped both the Sensex and Nifty move higher, although investor sentiment remained cautious amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The IT sector remained under pressure ahead of the first-quarter earnings season, while domestic institutional investors continued supporting the market despite intermittent foreign selling. Market participants are now looking towards corporate earnings for fresh direction.
Analysts believe that earnings announcements, crude oil prices and global developments will determine whether the recent recovery can be sustained over the coming weeks.
